Canada

Derek Johnson's trip notes from Canada: Toronto, Vancouver, and the easy-access neighbor that's bigger and more varied than most US travelers realize.

Trip Notes

Canada is number two on our visited-countries list, right after the United States, because I grew up in Bellingham, Washington, about 20 minutes from the border.

Vancouver, Victoria, and the Lower Mainland were essentially weekend territory. We'd make day-trips up to Vancouver, ferry over to Victoria for the harbor and Butchart Gardens, or drive up to Whistler when we wanted to ski or just spend a weekend in a mountain town.

We've visited Canada for family weddings, and the first birthday gift I gave to Jessica was a weekend in Whistler, so we have good memories in Canada together and with family.
